Campfire Permit as Proof of Residence?

Is a campfire permit valid as a secondary proof of residence?

My DL has my old address. I submitted a change of address to the DMV and they provided me with a "brown card" which is apparently not accepted by FFLs.

I've already provided the lease agreement to my new apartment, but need another form of proof of residence.

My apartment rent includes utilities and I do not have car registration.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Your lease does not satisfy Federal regulations. Who issues a campfire permit? Does it have a period of validity on it and your name and current address?

Its not that FFLs do not accept it, its specifically stated that the DOJ does not accept this.

      ...
Technically, "THE CALIFORNIA WILDLAND FIRE COORDINATING GROUP (CWCG )" - which is made up of the a list of State and Federal agencies - issues the permit.

It does have a date of expiration (usually the 31st Dec of every year) and "lists" the permit holders current address...

However, anyone can go online and fill out the permit as they see fit.

For example, I can literally put "123 FAKE Street, Sacramento, CA" and it will print that.

My resounding answer is that fire permits issued under "http://www.preventwildfireca.org/Campfire-Permit/" are not valid 2nd proof of residency.

Issued by California Wildland Fire Coordinating Group. Current name and address listed as well as issue/expiration date are present. Based on the second poster's response, it appears to be a no go.

I understand the FFL is not the one making the rules. I mean no disrespect when I stated the FFL doesn't accept the brown card.

Unfortunately brown cards don't meet the requirements for the 2005 real I'd acr compliance.

If you submitted your lease for state requirement go to DMV and ask for Driving History Info printout ($5). That will satisfy feds legally. Make sure your FFL will accept it.

They are trying to meet both requirements.

If you go into a NFS office, they will look at your ID and it is issued by the government. You can do it online, which means that you can put anything, but I am not sure that makes it not meet the requirements. In a real world, your ID would work for handguns, but CA says no.

BTW, there is NO second requirement for proof of residency. Only ONE item is needed for proof of residency. It can be different for the Feds vs. CA. CA refuses to accept a CA ID/DL for proof of residency for handguns, but it is acceptable for long guns, which means that it has to be something else and it does not matter to CA if your ID does not have your current residence address or not for handguns. For the Feds, your CA ID/DL is acceptable and if that does not have your current residence address, you need a government document with your current residence address.

So in the case where your CA ID/DL does not have your current residence address, you would only need a single government document for proof of residency, such as vehicle registration.

As to the OP, you might want to get a Ham license. It is $15 for 10 years and then free renewals after that. It has your residence address (if you want) and it is a government document. It also can have any address which is a valid mailing address, which compares to the fire permit. You could also get a utility bill in your name for a friend and that would not be your residence address either, so it might be an idea to not try to read more into the requirements than what actually exists.
