    Laminating FSC

Reading a thread in General guns got me thinking. How many of you guys are offering to laminate the FSC you are issuing?

What equipment are you using and how are the costs?

We used to do this with the old "lifetime" cards but stopped when they went to 5 year cards. This new printed version is flimsy. I offer free replacement of cards if they are list or damaged, but offering to laminate might be a good investment for my customers who have to deal with this new card style.

    Opinions?

Clear packing tape for us. It's better than nothing. We don't have laminators.

Are we required to keep the top piece of certificate I know some dealers do?

You know when every FSC transaction is made, the DOJ sends you an auto email copy with name, date, license, issuance made, etc? Would it satisfy "logging" requirements if I have printed every single FSC transaction and put them in folders by year? Im sure it would, just wondering.

As far as logging the FSC, just print a report from the FSC system and keep it as a log.

The machines are good. If you really wanted to do cheaply. I used to "relaminate" my old school's Ids with a clothes iron and a piece of cotton fabric. I usually set the iron to medium temp and place the id in between the fabric. I usually pay attention at the edges to make sure that they are sealed.

Yup we laminate for free, didn't at first but when people came back again and the card was all but destroyed we just bought a machine to make it easy for the customers. The old HSC cards would hold up but these new ones are just thin paper.

Unless you print them on heavy paper :-).

No, I don't, as it would cost too much money.

Can you send a link to what you use? If it comes out cheaper than what I am doing now I will switch out after the batch I am using is gone.
