    New Credit Card Merchant?

    Hello all,

We are looking into a new credit card merchant. Currently we are using Payment Alliance and they have been fine. However, I would like to look at some other options in hopes of getting better service and/or lower fees. What do you all recommend? We prefer to use a standalone credit card terminal. Thank you.

I use Square on my phone. All cards accepted with a flat 2.75% fee per transaction. You can set up one account on multiple devices as well.

This is what the SQUARE says...."By creating a Square Account, you also confirm that you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: .......(22) sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury..."

Not carefully examining the services terms and conditions can really screw you up if it is charged back or funds held up. Find a service that knows FFLs should NOT be classified along with sellers of Porn or multilevel marketing schemes.

          Just saying...

Wow. Didn't know that at all.

My business is appliance repair and is not gun related. Just chimed in hoping to help out fellow business owners.

Thank you for educating me about Square.

I had payment alliance with my ffl and switched to Bank of America as I bank with them. No monthly fee and the beat my existing 2.65% transaction fee. You can negotiate the fees in case you didn't know. Send me a pm if you'd like more info

I seem to recall Bank of America as being involved in Operation Choke Point.

Thanks for the responses. Right now Payment Alliance is charging me 0.75% per transaction and and a $10 monthly statement fee. The other fees I pay are from the credit card companies from what I understand. What do you all think?

Another reason why I was looking at what else is out there is because I need to upgrade my cc terminal because it doesn't accept the new chip cards.

BofA is who we use, they suck, and I'm just waiting until I get notice they are closing my accounts.

Yea that is what I was paying. But I got it reduced to .40% per transaction (plus standard CC fee of 2.65% )or whatever visa and MasterCard charge. and no monthly fee except for my authorize.net account fee of $16.

I specifically stated I was doing business in the firearms sales and they said as long as I don't sell guns via the web I'm not violating the terms and conditions. So all my gun sales transactions and PPT are FTF using my nifty card slider for my phone they gave me.

Why do you dislike them? Just so I have a heads up to what I'm in for
