    Updated.

    Hi All,
I have a customer that decided he likes the camo pattern on a different shotgun. It is the exact same Model Mossberg 835, but the camo pattern is a little different (even though it's the exact same type of camo).

I told him I thought we would have to cancel existing then Re-DROS since it's already been processed as "Delivered" in DROS. Since DOJ is closed today I thought I check in here first. I didn't know if I could just modify DROS with new serial number after it already has been Delivered in the system.

Thanks for any input. c good

    Interesting question.

If the gun was delivered recently then you are able to go back and still make corrections in the DES system.

You can make corrections online up to 90 days I believe. After that you have to send in paper.

To avoid confusion should anyone else refer to this thread. I spoke with CA DOJ this morning on their FFL line.

I explained my situation and was told that since the firearm was processed as "Delivered" I could not use "Correct DROS" and just change out serial numbers on the DROS. I had to cancel the old DROS and start a whole new 4473, DROS, and waiting period.

Hope this helps others in this situation. c good

....then why do they provide the option to change the information after the delivered button is pushed?

all you are changing is the serial number.

Crazy, I know. That's what I was told. I'll call again tomorrow and see if I can get additional information. The DOJ personnel don't seem to always know either. I'll keep you all posted.

Once the gun is "delivered" it's a done deal. He wants another shotgun because the camo is a little different? Make him pay for it.

Just because you cancel a dros doesn't mean you get your money back. CA still charges you the 25.00. So he is going to have to pay another DROS charge.

But he wouldn't have to pay another DROS fee if you are doing a correction.

Last week at the time of pick up I realized I had made an error on the caliber of a Winchester 94. I ran the DROS as a 30 30 when it was a 357. It took me 30 seconds to correct it and about another 30 for me and the buyer to sign and fingerprint. The charge was $0.

Now back to the OP, I could see an issue if they had left the shop with the gun then changed their mind, but I don't think that was the case here.

This is how I interpret the process: The reason we are able to correct the DROS after it has been processed and/or delivered is to fix any error that we (the dealer) made, not because the customer wants a different variation of the same firearm. Hope that helps.
