    out of state friend

My out of state friend wants to give me a rifle for some work I did on his house this summer. he wants to travel here with it but wont be able to deliver it to my ffl (time constraints). what are the ramifications of me accepting the delivery with his copies of info and taking it to my ffl to dros the gun? it isn't a semi auto type rifle. thanks.

No can do. Not in CA. He needs to send to the FFL.

Can he take it to a different FFL that is not "your" FFL? You only have to go 2 times.

Willing to bet, if you tried it, FFL would shut you down the moment you asked once they realized what you were asking be done.

Sorry, but as a FFL I have no way of doing this. Either he comes in to the FFL or he ships it in.

If he can not drop it off at your FFL (which does not seem reasonable), then he needs to ship it to the FFL or drop it off at another FFL. It does not seem reasonable to claim that he will be here, yet won't have time to drop it off.

My FFL is the key here. I already pointed out he "could" use a different FFL that is not as easy for him, but do it legal and get it.

He is going to be there such a short period of time that he can't drop it off? Either he is going to be there a really short period of time or your FFL is closed all the time.

                  He can always ship it.
