An how did they start DROS not knowing if it was rostered.

The Rostered guns are on the drop down list if it is not there it's not on the list ??

I still don't understand how they Drosed an off list gun. They would have had to list it as something else. If that was the case DOJ wouldn't know it was the wrong gun.
I guess they could have had a doj Inspection as the gun was still there but what are the chances of that?

    Something still sounds strange.
    .
As explained to me that is how I believe it went down. Like I said I hop not to step on anyones toes and won't mention the FFL.

The roster has a TRP Operator full rail and a TRP. I can see how a LGS employee made an honest mistake. Problem is their mistake cost a customer money.

I can DROS a Glock 43 as a Single Action revolver by any manufacturer and the DOJ will never know until they audit me. They wouldn't reject the DROS because the serial doesn't match a rostered gun.

My assumption is the sale was made and during an internal audit the owner/manager noticed it and called the OP.

This makes a little more sense. If the LGS messed up they should eat the cost of the DROS and make it right.

Thanks for filling in some gaps in the conversation.

Like said, for all those who will read through this tread that are thinking about ordering online. PLEASE call us before you click and buy something. I would rather field a 3 minute phone call then waste an hour dealing with sending something back. If you are accepting interstate transfers you know this kind of stuff happens and goes with the territory. We get about 5 calls per day from people asking if what they are ordering is "CA legal", and we gladly take these calls and walk people through their purchase.
Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

Sorry for the delay. I was out of town.

2a zone is correct as how it went.

        FFL ordered it for me.

Told me it was denied. But I found out it was canceled by FFL.

I have requested a full refund after 2a zone's advice. We'll see. I'm going to pursue this all the way. It's not the money. It's the principal. FFL did wrong when lied to me!

        Thanks for everyone's help, especially 2a zone's.

Good luck OP, I hope you get your money back.

FFLs make mistakes, I know I have. That being said I'm not going to make my customer pay for my error.

I understand the due diligence on the OP's part when gun shopping, but let's say OP is new to the gun world, maybe buying his first and is unfamiliar with the roster like most people are, even many cops I work with. Doesn't the due diligence fall back on the LGS? I'm just curious. I hope it works out for you OP I don't think you should have to pay a dime and would buy somewhere else next time. I'm sure both parties learned something from this.

And if they deny full refund. Put their name here so we can avoid them.

It is a part of our job. An annoying and surprisingly time consuming one, but one we do daily.

I personally am so tired of telling customers no you can't have that because it's not on the California roster. Many of you here on Calguns would be surprised the number of people who walk into a shop daily having no idea about the roster. We have to explain it daily and trying to explain the insanity of that list to someone is not easy. They all try to look for logic in what we are saying but as we all know logic has no place in California law.

If the FFL ordered it and submitted the DROS, it is completely on the FFL. They never should have ordered it and never should have submitted the DROS if it was not on the certified list. It is their mistake and all most lost should be on them.

I bet that can be frustrating giving the same speech over and over again while trying very hard not to sound frustrated. It's probably a lot of tire kickers that would probably not even buy anyway. It's sad that you even have to tell people that they can't purchase a certain firearm because we live in such a great state with unnecessary restrictions. And when your not dealing with them you have DOJ and BATFE breathing down your necks waiting for you to fart wrong. I appreciate what you guys do, I'm just sorry you even have to do it in the first place.

A vast majority (75%+) of "do you have this handgun" requests are for off roster pistols... "Gee, nobady seems to carry that one" to which I reply "has no one told you why?"
