    Gun with threaded barrel question

Hey guys, have a quick question for anyone with a couple of spare minutes.

How would an exempt person legally go about importing and FNX-45 tactical to California(only comes with a threaded barrel)? Roster is not the issue, but the threaded barrel is. I know that possession is not illegal, but I figured that the transfer can't occur with the threaded barrel. So I was wondering if a non-threaded barrel was purchased and supplied to the FFL, could the gun be shipped into Ca to the FFL and perform the transfer with the supplied regular barrel? Thanks!

It would have to be imported in a compliant form.
If your receiving FFL has an AW permit, they should be able to handle the transfer similarly to how the SSE transfers were done.
If they do not have an AW permit, then the conversion must take place prior to shipment.

Ok, so easiest way if receiving FFL doesn't have AW permit is to send aftermarket barrel to the out of state FFL to be converted and sent to the receiving FFL...

I wonder how these were being sold as SSE's before, I've only found non-threaded barrels from one aftermarket company (EKM).

FN will sell factory non threaded barrels for around $200. Like any "assault weapon", if the dealer does not have an AW Permit, it would have to be configured before coming into the state.
