Well, it is a moot point.
Newb Calgunner sold the gun( suppossedly ).
He was online twice after I ed the Sale, and never responded.
He responded after my 3rd PM...
Crap like this is why the Marketplace should be a Pay for Play Forum, IMO

This is the 3rd CGN deal that fell through for me in 2 weeks....
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

Unless there is an active criminal investigation, and a particular officer/detective is handling it, they cannot even look - and cannot share the info if they are authorized to get it.

Could easily be fired, and possibly prosecuted.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

I can't say it doesn't happen, but see the thread from last March http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1054217

What I think is funny is. I just asked my buddy who is Chief about this and was told there is nothing illegal about checking a SN to see if it is stolen before buying it. They do it all the time. Well it doesn't hurt to check with your local PD to see if they will do it.

Can they run a background check on a buyer for you as well so you know what kind of person you're dealing with?

don't know. Never asked about backround. Just asked them to check if it was stolen.

I have called the local LE agency a few times when doing PPTs. I simply tell them I would like to buy a gun (legally) from an individual and all I would like to know is if the gun is stolen. I have had the make, model and serial # info at hand. I have never had an agency ever say they would not do it.
