    Sad day when...

I know its not part of the FFL's forum in a FFL related question, but I am an FFL and I just finished dealing with a customer who came in looking to purchase her first firearm because her and her family were assaulted in their residence. This is an ongoing problem apparently and they know these people who have been threatening her family and her son. And when they contacted the PD they were told that the police cant help unless something happened. Well it did, and now they are looking to purchase a firearm to protect themselves.

Anyhow it always breaks my heart to hear about how they didn't realize their need to protect themselves until it was too late. Use your second amendment rights everyone. And I know all the FFLs on here will do anything they can to get firearms in the hands of good people who need them. I hate to see customers like this come in.... Sigh.....

I'm sure that's a tough one to hear about, imagine gunstores get that frequently.
when I was young I used to install alarm systems & hearing from people/ customers who were "closing the barn door" after they had been broken into...
and all the weird circumstances like a intruder so high on drugs they walk right in oblivious to the fact that it's not even their house...
while the only one home is the daughter in the shower!
it was sometimes hard to see them realize we're closer to danger (even when we're at home.) than people thought we are.

Most people don't know that there is Case Law which states that the police have no duty or obligation to protect you as an individual. Then there is the aspect that they can't always be there.

The problem is the fraud by the government which tells people that the police will protect them and they should not try to protect themselves. If you have to get a personal protection permit (CCW) and where you live won't issue one to you, why is it that you can not force the police to protect you or sue them when you are harmed?

You're so right, I've been preaching this for years to deaf ears. People are still under the impression the police are there to protect them. (As Kemasa quoted my signature line)

We have a huge up swing in crime in my area over the last year or so. I get at least one person a week that comes in and says "I never wanted a gun but.....". At this point a good 1/3 of my business is now to brand new shooters who want home protection.

          It's kind of sad.

^ I think this trend will only continue while and while I'm glad to have the new shooter I just wish they were getting into the sport because they liked it.
