    question about drop shipping firearms..

just curious if i can drop ship firearms from my wholesale account to buyers out of state, would go to their ffl for pickup.

    -background-
i do have 01FFL,coe,on centralized list(exempt),business license, boe resale certificate, insurance.i am currently doing small business as gunsmith and special order accessories sales.

    -general questions-
1)is this possible if the gun never enters California?
2)i am on centralized list as exempt would have to change that over to standard listing (no longer exempt)???
3)would i have to collect cal state tax or is that on the state gun goes to??

please limit advice to those that are 01 ffl's,or former 01 ffl holders please...

Yes it is possible but you are too small for a distributor to do that with you. I am only aware of sportsmans guide and buds. Good luck margins are much slimmer with that model.

RSR will not DS Firearms (most or the smaller outfits don't/won't)

Some of the larger outfits will but getting an Account with them may be hard depending how big your "STORE" is.

The larger outfits require that you have a

Retail location (not in a house)

Store front of XXXX SQFT or larger and are open 5+ days a week full time

Have a fully stock showroom with $xxx,xxx.00 inventory

Internet sales are not your main sales focus

DS firearms is A LOT more work for them! So expect to pay more for that service. They have to get the receiving FFL's info if the do not have it on hand already.

Also, be careful listing firearms not physically allocated to you; they may be available tonight, but when the order clears tomorrow morning -poof- out of stock.

I am dealing with this on a special order from 2 Sundays ago:
Me "no problem, I'll order it now, there are 5 in stock and we'll have it in a few days. Gimme your money."
Wholesaler (16 hours later): "sorry, OOS"
Buyer: "WTF, I could have got that from XYZ competitor, but they're OOS now too"
