    ffl and the 1 year rule

    is it true if your an ffl and buy a ppt or dros a gun from inventory to your name you have to keep it for a year.is there anyway around this.thanks for any help. so if I did dros them in my name can I use the acquisition program keep them 30 days and then sell them?

    Only if you log it straight from your bound book to yourself without completing a 4473.

      and if you don't want to wait a year to sell, you can just log it back into your books and log it out to the buyer.

        As said, it is not true. If you transferred it to yourself and did not fill out a 4473 (sole proprietor), then if you want to sell it prior to having it a year, you just need to run it through your book.

        Personally, it is not a bad idea to run any firearms that you sell through your book, unless you go to another FFL and do a PPT.
