Question left blank on DROS Form

So I did a transfer today and the dealer told me to leave question 11l blank (are you a non immigrant alien). It then says if you answered no to this question to skip the next question. This is what I have always done. However, the dealer insisted I leave both 11l and the next question blank.

Is this going to hose me in 10 days when I go back?

I've done many a DROS, that question is always answered by me and the next one is left blank.

Also, I believe nobody is allowed to instruct you on which answer to choose on the questionnaires (that is my understanding, I am not an FFL, I may be wrong).

I seem to recall putting "n/a" in such fields.

That is not a dros, that is a 4473. 4473 is only federal and has nothing to do with the dros, 10 day wait or background check. The worst that'll happen is the store will get audited and be told they did it wrong. No one is allowed to answer or coach anyone through a 4473. Question L asks if you are here on a visa and does have to be answered. Question 12 asks if you are here on a visa, do you have an exemption to own a firearm. Obviously based on the premise, if you aren't here on a visa you cannot answer it. Just mark it on pick up.
