On DROS form, do you include dash on serial number?

For you FFL's: On the DROS form, I noticed that my dealer did not include the dash that is part of the firearm's serial number.

I used the search function and came across a thread from 2011:

Basically, some posters mentioned that the BATF says the dash is part of the serial number, so it should be recorded, but for the DROS, it won't allow the use of dashes, so many dealers do not include it.

Has anything changed since then? Will my dealer have to submit a DROS correction form?

    -Thanks!

DROS still doesn't like spaces or dashes among other characters. Nothing can be done.

The dealers A/D book will be correct

My answer is yes, I include it. The field for the serial number won't allow it, but I always add it to the comments since the BATF says that the dash is part of the serial number and the DROS has to be signed under penalty of perjury, plus it is annoying that they don't allow for the dash.

In answer to your question, it is nothing to worry about and nothing that can be corrected until logic and reason is installed at the CA DOJ, so don't ever count on that happening.
      Kemasa.
