I bought a HK USP Compact 45 and picked it up today. When I got home, I realized that the model is listed as HK USP and the barrel length is 4.41 inches. The serial number is correct though. How can I get this fixed, or does it even matter since the serial number is correct?

Doj has a downloadable registration form you can use to correct errors. $19 to the government pocket tho."If we make enough laws, we can all be criminals."

Here's a link to the forms page: http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/forms
And you can ask your ffl, maybe he'll front the fee at least."If we make enough laws, we can all be criminals."

There was a form that the FFL dealer could fill out regarding errors. I can't remember the form number, and it seems that it was used to correct serial numbers, but it might also work for model/barrel length errors too.
Might have been DOJ form 805?Comment

You might call the dealer you bought the gun from, explain the error ,and ask if there is a way to correct it from his end?Comment

If it's a rostered gun and he chooses the correct rostered option it'll correct both fields automagically. Should not have to return weapon or incur 10 day wait.. he should be able to do it all from the DES online system.. only when it's past 90 days or some other period does the paper form have to be used. Again the dealer should do it not you since there's no fee for that correction form and it requires some of the dealer info on it.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales

I went back to the dealer and the effing idiot changed to "USP Comp 45 Stnls V1" instead of "Comp USP45 V1" (my gun wasn't stainless; it's steel and black). So now the barrel length is correct but the model is not; although, the color attribute remain black and didn't get changed to stainless. They can only do one change so they went in the back room and called DOJ and came back out and told me that DOJ told them to either leave as is or re-DROS. If I re-DROS, I have to wait until after 30 days from the original DROS which would be April 3 and wait another 10 days. Somehow, I just don't believe them about DOJ telling I can leave it as is.If it's a rostered gun and he chooses the correct rostered option it'll correct both fields automagically. What do you guys think?Comment

At this point leave it as is...color is really irrelevant because you can choose to change that at any time..(technically the barrel too I suppose).. and Stainless doesn't always refer to the color. Sometimes it's the material. If the color attribute still reads black I'm guessing that's what AFS would show, but an LEO would have to verify.UG Imports - Fremont, CA FFL - Transfers, New Gun Sales
