99% sure that this is incorrect. FFL is logging it in from the seller and logging it out to the buyer after the 10-days. there will be a 4473 to match the buyer logout.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Well, different FFLs have all kinds of different screwy rules so it's best to ask the FFL ahead of time. I've only sold a couple but both times the buyer did his inspection at the PPT counter and counted out the cash on the counter while the employee was entering stuff in the computer.

I'd be surprised that an LGS told the buyer and seller to do the inspection out in his parking lot .. sounds like all kinds of potential problems with that. Not saying it doesn't happen, just think it's a bad idea.

Some FFLs don't like the money exchanged inside for some strange reason, so it is best to ask. I have not heard directly, but some have said it is because they claim if they see the money then they have to charge sales tax, which is not correct.

Wrong. There are issues as to whether it is subject to sales tax. If it is a private sale from within CA, an occasional sale and the seller does not have a business, it is not subject to sales tax, even if it is shipped. Also, if the firearm is a C&R from out of state and it is a private sale, an occasional sale and the buyer has a C&R FFL, it would not be subject to sales tax.

PPTs are not logged into the FFL bound book. If he gets audited by the ATF or DOJ he needs to have every gun he has for sale or in for gunsmithing logged in his book. The PPT firearms need to have their DROS paperwok present but they don't need to be in his bound book.
Wrong. Others said 99.9%, but I say 100% in CA as it is kept overnight, so it has to be logged into the bound book. In free states, the transfer could be done instantly, so it would not be required to be logged, but personally I think that is a bad idea. I think it is best to log everything that go through my business so that I have a record of it. I suspect you read the BATF letter on the matter, but what you neglected to realize is that the laws in each state is different, so it does not apply. The problem is that someone, especially a new FFL, might actually believe you.

As you should. When I first read this I thought that you said that you never logged a PPT into your bound book :-). Saying that you always logged PPTs into your bound book would have been a bit easier to read.

But both buyer and seller need not be present together at the FFL.

I read it that way initially too and my first thought was "wtf" and then I read it again I think he was just screwing with us.
