I will answer for myself. Baptism is symbolic of being buried with Jesus and raised in a new life. Your personal relationship has or should have begun before your baptism. If you are Christian and you don't feel you are having a personal relationship with the Living God, you are probably not praying, fellowshipping, or reading in his word. A personal relationship is not found to be tied to a ritual, although it is awesome to have the family of God surrounding you with love and encouragement, feelings should not be what you put your trust in

I came to Christ last August and have been feeling very different ever since.

As a kid I was brought up protestant and went to church, Sunday school, and was even an alter boy for a time.

I didn't learn much. I actually learned more from a book by Hal Lindsay I read in high school.

When I was 24 I came to Ca. and stopped church altogether for 34 years.

Didn't have time. I made excuses like when Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, and Jimmy Swaggert were exposed, I painted all religion with a broad brush.

I got older and wiser in those 34 years and realized I wasn't the strong, independent buck, I thought I was. I have no control of my life, and was empty.

I hit my knees, and repented. It was ugly, because I had a lot to repent.

That's the point I felt different, very different.

I found a church close by, and checked it out. I liked what I saw.

A non-denominational church, that teaches about Christ, where everyone is welcome.

I walked in that church and met some pretty nice people. I was overwhelmed.

It is very different from the church I remember as a kid.

I spent the last year modifying my old ways, habits, and thoughts, deeds and just having a relationship with the Lord.

I wanted to be very sure in my heart when I hit that water yesterday.

      I'm in a good place.

      Hallelujah!

May the good Lord bless and keep you all.

        Hi mossy,
You see that a relationship with God can only take place through Jesus. He came to bridge the gap between man and God. When we enter into covenant relationship with Christ, we have access to God. My life changed at that moment. I didn't truly see it at that time; I just knew things were different. Do I always feel saved? No. But it is not based on my feeling, but on His promise; and He cannot lie. I know that Jesus has a plan for you to; thoughts of good and blessing. You just have to come in faith to Jesus, repent and daily seek Him with your whole heart. He changed me and He can change you to. And yes, I also have a deep personal living comforting fulfilling relationship with God. He's my most treasured possession.
