Ramclap, thanks for turning me on to Dallas Willard, I had never heard of him.

Ah, so refreshing to hear someone speaking the truth about salvation, grace, and the love of Christ. Being born from above is not something you choose, it is God's will. You can't earn it or deserve it. Election is the sovereign decree of God. Anything else leads to pride.

Dallas Willard has a series of lectures available on YouTube. Here's one on John 14, great stuff. "Reflections on John 14"

So glad you found his works. One of the great theologians of our time. He is sorely missed.

That was a fascinating debate between Caroll and Halveston although it does show an interesting takeaway on your part. I can't imagine anyone watching that debate and coming away with any conclusion other than, while both men were very smart... One was describing phenomena with knowable, provable facts, and the other was philosophizing about unproven and unprovable possibilities. He really offered no evidence of anything, just argued that god was "possible". I don't know who he was arguing with though.... Scientists don't generally argue that god isn't possible... Just that he is not necessary or even probable.

Not to mention that he stated that he believes some things that many Christians would find very disturbing, like the world being billions of years old and not the 6000 or so years old many biblical literalists subscribe to.

Either way, no one who isn't already committed to Christianity watched that video and thought the theist had a more compelling argument. That is absurd.

Well. I'm an old earther so it doesn't bother me. But, sounds like it bothered you pretty well. That sure was verbose for something absurd.
