Just curious, do you have a biblical reference for that? This was the topic of discussion with a few of my friends last week.

        Yes.

        Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

What if you have multiple pets during your life? Will you see them all? What if they don't like each other?

Ok, there is not a single verse in the Bible that talks about animals going to Heaven. Rainbow Bridge is all warm and fuzzy, but the Bible is about Heaven and Hell. Jesus came to save the human race. As I had posted on the other thread, we are made in God's image and imparted with a soul. Animals were created by God for food and companionship, but God didn't impart to animals a soul. I miss my little buddy, but I'm not worried about him being in heaven. I'm worried about my family and friends being in Heaven with me. That's what's important.

If you define heaven as a place where you are happy, then it wouldn't be heaven without pets would it?

Is it not all important ? Our family? Pets are members of our family. Heaven would not Be Heaven unless everyone non your family was there. Pets included

The Bible doesn't discuss the after life of animals or pets. One thing for sure is that they are not subject to the covenant that humans are. Since the Bible doesn't really touch the topic of animal souls and salvation, from a Christian perspective the question can't really be answered.

One interesting note though: Christ did send a Legion of demons from a man into a herd of pigs, which could maybe suggest the capacity for a soul.

I might be the joy kill here too but I seriously don't have any concern if my pets made it to heaven or not. I'm not against pet lovers and I too own pets and even thought I count them a part of my family, I don't consider them part of the family, if you know what I mean. I would do my best to save them as I did with my last German Shepherd. I ditched put $1,200 just so she'll live with us for less than an hour, but to die for them, I wouldnt. With that said, I'm not heartless, either.

But nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus died on the cross for animals, he died on the cross for mankind. The purpose of the incarnation of Jesus Christ was to save man.

Now before you torch me, I do also believe that the second coming of Jesus Christ, when man is restored to our original status, everything created, bugs, birds, fish, animals etc will also be restored because after all it is God's creation and everything He created he saw that it was good.
