666 will persecute and wage war against the christians during the "great tribulation".

Revelation 11: 7 And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit[a] will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, 8 and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically[b] is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. 9 For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb, 10 and those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and exchange presents, because these two prophets had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth. 11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. 12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here!” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies watched them. 13 And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. ESV

I think it's interesting that this kind of religion believes that equating yourself with God is blasphemy while Taoism is just the opposite. Realizing, in Taoism, that you are God is considered like a "well, it's about time you woke up" type of deal. Fascinating stuff. This is one of my new favorite threads

You should probably complain to Kes, the owner of the board. He's the one who opened the faith forum.

Regardless of whether there is a "rapture" of believers, current world population is in overshoot, and mankind has the ability to destroy themselves multiple times over, not even counting the natural disasters that there is potential for. Look at the 7 Vials judgments of Revelations. Pollution of the waters can cause overgrowth of red algae giving water a blood-like quality. Various situations (volcanism, solar flare, asteroid impact) can cause great heat. Darkness can be caused by volcanic ash in the upper atmosphere, as well as from fires or from nuclear war.

I am previously a Rapture believer but I have become skeptical of that and do not see strong evidence for it in scripture. The passages often used to justify that belief, do not seem as strongly coherent in support of that belief as I once thought, and I question the context in which those passages are interpreted.

I believe with all my heart that catastrophic tragedy for mankind lies on the horizon. I think the question we should all be asking ourselves is how should we be ordering our lives, here and now? To me that's a much more important question than whether there will be a Rapture.

If there is a Rapture, ok, great. If not... hoo boy. I think it's a better idea to plan on there not being one. Like a zombie apocalypse, if you're ready for a Great Tribulation you can weather pretty much anything.
The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.

Yes, some believe the coming rapture and some do not. Regardless, I agree with you that we should live as if Jesus is coming back today. Walking according to His Word and keeping our life busy, thinking, preparing and planning for the future.

I hide in my fear,, What really seems to be true is the vast seas of people who will mindlessly receive Lucifer as their savior and worship the idol. We as a people are so gullible and have little discernment.

The rapture would be a nice thing to happen BUT even the First disciples of Jesus suffered unto death. What ever that may mean.

I believe in the Rapture. I just believe it happens at the second coming of Christ. I fell very strongly that the eternal state begins at the appearance of Christ when He appears the second time. If one is caught at the second coming un-redeemed, that one has sealed their eternal fate. There is no second chance.

The rapture is not really biblical. It is never really mentioned in the bible. The versus people bring up don't necessarily mean there will be one. I think us as believers will go through that terrible time, I don't think we will be spared that persecution. If we think we are persecuted now we aren't even close. We will experience very bad things and this will really test our faith.

The idea that the finished work of Christ on the cross will be replaced with the old animal sacrifice is at worst blasphemous, and at best irrelevant since the work is finished. Not all Christians believe in a two part Return of Christ. Christians have been persecuted and murdered since Christ. This is the norm not the exception. That He would pull His people out of the world is not Biblical and is fantasy. If you believe in the "rapture" then I give you your position. Just understand that most Christians around the world do not hold to this position. It is a very new idea in Christendom and is/was not historically held by the the Church.

will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord (ESV).

It also says in those days THE GOOD WILL BE CONSIDERED EVIL AND THE EVIL WILL BE CONSIDERED GOOD

well, I'd say that time has come. Because its now considered bad to be a patriot, a Christian , pro constitution or even to not believe in gay marriage

Regarding the term "caught up" it's also used in revelation 12 verse 5
"And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was CAUGHT UP unto God, and to his throne."

This is referring to Jesus , Jesus was killed , so caught up means to be killed or die

I have more scriptures proving the rapture is false but I don't have time now , I'll be back later

The persecution and tribulation after the Rapture is very different.

2Peter 2: 9 Jehovah knows how to deliver people of godly devotion out of trial, but to reserve unrighteous people for the day of judgement to be cut off.

Re 3: 10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.

Revelation 6: 16-17 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!*For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”

Matthew 24: 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time,no, nor ever shall be.
