    Good Sacramento Church?

Is there a good Sacramento church that teaches "truth?" I have lived in this area for a few years now and cannot find a church to call home. My wife and I have attended so many that we actually have a spread sheet of places we have attended. I have been to places that give a great feel good speech, and never open the Bible. I have seen full on Rock Bands preform and never really heard a sermon. I have listened to preachers dance around the subject of "Sin" and been told that "all roads lead to God" ??? I have heard Traditional and Modern sermons? I could go on and on...
I believe in Jesus, Grace, Repentance, and that I am a SINNER! Without Jesus and Grace, I would go to HELL. The message of the Cross has not changed, least not as I read it. My family and I have been hosting a Bible Study out of our house for the past couple years, and although that is great. I would like to find a place to fellowship and call home. I can say that we grew up in a small town and I feel very lost in a mega church setting, but at this point. I am open for suggestions.
Please, you have a church that teaches The Word of God.. speak up. I would love to check it out. Thanks for listening to me ramble...

I also have spent much time looking for a church that is focused on solid Bible teaching and less on appearances, entertainment, or trying to blend in with modern society. Having started attending churches in Sacramento many years ago, the only solid Bible teaching I found was when Glen Cole was alive and leading Capital Christian Center, and then primarily during the Wednesday night teaching services. I love the work that the mega churches are doing in the community, but I never feel at home there either. As a result, I have not attended a church in quite some time which is my distinct loss.

I'm on the same boat. My wife and I are disappointed with the churches nowadays. Sin and hell are hardly mentioned instead a feel good sermon and concert style bands dominate.
It's good that we found pastors on t.v. that teach solid biblical sermons. We record them and watch them every saturday night that became bible study with different family members after that.
We grew and learn more this way. If we attented anyof these feel good churches, we would have stuck in the rut.

Wish I could help, but we're down here in SoCal, and I'm not familiar with any Sacramento congregations. From what you three wrote above, I gather that you're all missing the blessing of being part of a local congregation. That also means there are congregations that are missing the blessing of your fellowship, even if they don't know it.

Just a thought: are the first two posters close enough to see about fellowshipping together, and could the Bible study turn into its congregation? Again, just a thought...
        Regarding the 2nd Amendment:
"...to disarm the people ― that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason ("The Father of the Bill of Rights")

        Regarding Life and Death:
"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

The BIG question: "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?" Matthew 27:22b

I wish I can help but the church I go to doesn't speak English so, it'll be hard for you to understand. I just know that its not a feel good church and not fancy like many other churches but teaches the Word of God really well.

Hope you find one to go to.

I attend a Calvary Chapel here in Bakersfield. Calvary is non denominational and very much Bible based. We also have a men's Bible study on Wednesday mornings (breakfast included) that is led by a member that has Baptist roots. What an incredible man out teacher is.
I would not hesitate to attend either a Calvary Chapel or a Baptist Church. Baptist seem to really "bring it" when it comes to scripture teaching.

Want to add that all Calvary Chapels do not necessarily follow Pastor Chuck Smiths model. I can only speak for ones that do.
God bless and good luck. Looks like a couple are in Sacramento.
I would also recommend going on line and reading the specific Churches doctrine. Be wary of those that are not up front about their teachings. Also don't judge by only one visit. If you catch them on a special sermon day like the special guests coming to our Church this Sunday, you will be disappointed.

I think you might enjoy attending the church to which I belong; a Bible believing, Bible teaching congregation. There are several in the Sacramento area. Here is a list of a few that might be close to you.

I also attend a Calvary Chapel in Los Alamitos. I love the people. I also like the verse by the verse teaching. Well worth the time to at least visit some Calvary's in your area. But I do differ in belief with the Calvary's in at least two areas:
                  1. They are dispensational in their teaching and I see the Scripture as covenant in nature.
                  2. Calvary teaches a one thousand year kingdom age preceded by a seven year tribulation. Where I am more closer to a partial preterist and see the Book of Revelation as mostly in the past and see it as an expounding on the Sermon on the Mount.

Stopped trying to find man made organizations that were "good" a long time ago. Now, I just focus on interpersonal relationships with fellow believers wherever I happen to be. No 'church' has it 'all' ' right'.

Every Christian should join a church because Scripture requires it. Granted, there is no direct command in Scripture that says, “Every Christian must join a local church,” but two factors in Scripture indicate that every Christian should be a member of a local church.

Jesus established the church to be a public, earthly institution that would mark out, affirm, and oversee those who profess to believe in him (Matt. 16:18-19, 18:15-20). Jesus established the church to publicly declare those who belong to him in order to give the world a display of the good news about himself (John 17:21, 23; see also Eph. 3:10). Jesus wants the world to know who belongs to him and who doesn’t. And how is the world to know who belongs to him and who doesn’t? They are to see which people publicly identify themselves with his people in the visible, public institution he established for this very purpose. They’re to look at the members of his church. And if some people claim to be part of the universal church even though they belong to no local church, they reject Jesus’ plan for them and his church. Jesus intends for his people to be marked out as a visible, public group, which means joining together in local churches.
Scripture repeatedly commands Christians to submit to their leaders (Heb. 13:17; 1 Thess. 5:12-13). The only way to do that is by publicly committing to be members of their flock, and saying in effect, “I commit to listening to your teaching, following your direction, and to submitting to your leadership.” There’s no way to obey the scriptural commands to submit to your leaders if you never actually submit to them by joining a local church.

Just to be clear, I was not suggesting a Christian not be affiliated.

                            Good Sacramento Church?

I've attended St. Stephen The First Martyr parish, a Catholic Church, for the past 10 years. I'm young (22) so I've always called it old school but it's the traditional Latin mass that is celebrated daily there. They don't hold punches like some rockband/new age/ modern masses I've gone to but instead keep true to what's right and wrong esp with the problems in today's world with abortion, porn, media, modesty, etc. If you have the chance I'd recommend the 10:30am on Sunday as it's the sung high mass with the choir and organ. You may feel out of place as I did for many years but it was because I didn't put any effort into learning the Latin mass and it's roots. The sermon is in English but the rest is in Latin - they do have booklets to follow along with eng/Latin on both sides.

Plus, there's a good sized gun community there, ranchers, Leo, military, fire. I'm just now introducing several of them to Calguns as they are starting their ARs and this marketplace is a wealth of parts :-)

Back on topic..Good luck on your search!

Here was our priests doing a solemn high mass at the downtown cathedral in May:
