I would recommend that a new believer or someone who is seeking the truth start by reading the Gospel of John first, then go to Matthew, then Acts, and then Romans. This series provides the fundamentals of our faith and pretty much sums up the facts of God's divine love for man and the plan of salvation.

As an ongoing process, I read the Old and New Testaments sequentially in the morning, one chapter of each per day, then I read 5 chapters in the evening alternating between the major books in both Old and New. I also spend a lot of time with commentaries and changing versions to provide different insights into the Word.

      I agree starting with John.

My recommendation would be a gospel - John or Luke, then Acts, then Hebrews. After that finish up the gospels and epistles. Next Psalms, Proverbs, Daniel, and Isaiah. Then is a good time to check out Revelation.

          Front to back as designed.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

IMHO, start with the New Testament followed by the Old Testament. Just read a chapter every day,the same time every day. After 21 days you'll have a great habit and many blessings.

In that case the first book to start with would be Job, because it is the oldest book in the Bible.
