      Ephesians 5:22-24
      New International Version (NIV)

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

You left out the most important verse of this section,

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

          Ephesians 5:25

Yep, those passages have strong connotations.

Why does it say wives 'submit', and men 'love'?

Most men want to be honored and to be authority, while it is women that crave love, kindness, gentleness, sincerity. Those passages show the human psyche in a way only the Creator can comprehend

              my sig line

next to that would be John 15:13 "greater love has no one than this, than to lay down his life for his friends.14 You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you."
But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.

                  Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

                    Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

MY second favorite. Proverbs 1: 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Wisdom and discipline are what mere fools have despised.

The basic foundation verses that will get you started -

                        Assurance of Salvation - 1 John 5:11-12

'And this is the testimony. That God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his son. Whoever has the Son has life. Whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life'.

Assurance of Answered Prayer - John 16:24

'Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full'

                        Assurance of Forgiveness - 1 John 1:9

'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleans us from all unrighteousness'.

Assurance of Guidance - Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight'.

                        Assurance of Victory - 1 Corinthians 10:13

'No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability. But with the temptation, he will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it'.

And, of course, John 3:16 (minus the rainbow wig) -

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.

                          1 Peter 5:10-11

10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

The story of Ehud is pretty cool.

Ehud - Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and because they did this evil the LORD gave Eglon king of Moab power over Israel. Getting the Ammonites and Amalekites to join him, Eglon came and attacked Israel, and they took possession of the City of Palms. The Israelites were subject to Eglon king of Moab for eighteen years. Again the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Ehud had made a double-edged sword about a cubit long, which he strapped to his right thigh under his clothing.

The one in my sig line has always been my favorite. Ultimately the outcome is not in our hands and that can be comforting to remember when facing a daunting task. But at the same time we still must do our best to do our part.
