Cambridge Doré edition of the Bible.

The most famous book illustrator in the Victorian age was Gustav Doré. He amassed a fortune and became a millionaire which was almost impossible in the Victorian age. All these monies from illustrating famous classic books in the 1800's.

He was French, and therefore Catholic, and Catholic bibles have the Apocrypha in between the old and new testaments. His famous bible had 241 illustrations. The Cambridge Doré edition of the Bible is Protestant and therefore has only the old and new testaments. This is why this bible has only 221 illustrations. It has all of his illustrations from the old and new testaments.

This book has 3 editions which vary in quality. The quality of the least expensive blue edition is very high and sells for $250, but Amazon normally sells them for about $155. Right now the medium black edition is about $450 on Amazon which is cheaper than most bookstores by a lot. The highest quality is the brown edition which now lists for $750 and is not discounted on Amazon because that one is a special edition and only 500 were made.

The picture of the blue edition looks different than the video, but it is exactly the same. On Amazon it shows the book, the video shows the outer slipcase box at first until he pulls out the book itself.
