How long is your pastor's message on Sunday morning?

How long is the pastor's sermon/message portion of your service? Our pastor usually goes about 50 minutes. The overall service with worship, announcements, greeting time and sermon is about 75 minutes.

Most homilies last 15-20 minutes or so after the gospel reading ends.

About 35 minutes usually. If there will be a baptism a little shorter. Two meetings every sunday.

Service starts at 9am done at 10am.

            9 - 9:30 music

            9:30-10 message

Second service starts at 11am done at 12pm

I don't go for the music so I arrive @ 9:25 and find my seat.

If I miss first service I'll hit 2nd and usually stay behind and chat with the Pastor and staff and help clean the kitchen, vacuum, sweep, wipe stuff down.

A lot of excellent music at my church, so we spend about half the time singing. But I look forward to the sermons, because I am blessed with two pastors who are committed to the Bible and who make God's word meaningful and relevant and personal.

I'm semi-retired, so not regularly doing our Sunday morning service. I was doing a Sunday evening service weekly, but our elderly congregation doesn't drive much at night. I was getting a large (for me) online following, so I'm looking at how to use our church setup to preach 1 Cor. primarily for online and invite our church to attend as a weekday service.

With that said, over my many years of preaching, I'm at about 45-50 for a sermon. And, I usually cover 2-3 verses of the book that I'm in. Currently, I'm doing a detailed study of 1 Corinthians in Friday night Bible Study.

At our main service, I just did three weeks on Union with Christ. And, I did the man, Jesus Christ at our men's breakfast.

                    Blessings,
                    Bill

I try to aim my messages for right around 40 mins. Any more and I better have some awfully good stories. If I see too many eyes glazing over, I'll slim it down, but my messages are usually fairly entertaining, if for no other reason than I end up sticking my foot in my mouth multiple times.

I go to Jack Hibbs and love it. The music is about 20-25 minutes, then his preaching is always over an hour. Many times an hour and 10-20 minutes. It’s great. He’s the only pastor I’ve ever seen that incorporates so much reading from the Bible.

I’ve always felt that if I feel like I can’t wait for the service to be over, then there’s something wrong with me as a believer. With Jack Hibbs preaching the gospel, I could stay and listen longer. Why wouldn’t I stay to keep hearing the good news?

It`s funny to me to see how angry an atheist is over a God they don`t believe in.` -Jack Hibbs

I like Jack Hobbs, also. I watch him on utube and his style and words are right on.
I am greatly embarrassed and deeply humiliated for years I wasted in a local
church in OC. I still have a lot of great friends though, even though now I?m liv8ng in north San Diego county.
