    Church security.

Hello believers, just had a conversation with my minister about starting a church security.
We have a children?s Bible class and have seen how vulnerable they are; on top of the church facility.

What would be the first couple things to discuss? And how would it look with armed church members? Thanks and God bless.

Hire a company that specializes in assessing security issues for a church and trains its members for armed security situations. Getting tips and tricks off of a forum is like acquiring surgery instructions off of webMD,

We have a couple of LEO that we asked to come up with a plan and training. We have come up with a multi layered plan that takes into account lethal and non lethal threats. We also address mental health emergencies.

We will be running training scenarios and some defensive technique training, too.

I attended a church where the security team was comprised of members who attended the church. I knew several of the members but was not on the security team. I know they were friends. They share a common interest in firearms and defending their loved ones. If you survey your church members I believe you will find a number of men who can assemble and provide church security.

Security is a must. I could tell you some crazy, personal stories. A couple of us are concealed weapons holders and I've had some training in church security. We're out in the country and look just like that church in Texas that had a massacre several years ago.

                  Blessings,

"How would it look with armed church members?" Why would you even ask that? Are you thinking about open carry instead of concealed carry? If so, that would make anyone OCing a prime target. Why would anyone want to show their ace in the hole prior to being called?

I agree security is a must. One thing that I have learned is that a church will attract people who are there to bring down the church, and cause dissension among the members.

First thing, obviously, is to make sure the pastor or priest is good with it. Some, surprisingly, are not.

The next thing is to find people willing to strap and what their feelings are about it. Remember, that typically in a church, there's a greater focus on teaching forgiveness than teaching the fundamentals of armed engagements.

Following that, finding someone knowledgable in the tactical mindset. I'm really sorry, but the average LEO or military does not typically have the training to teach someone how to tactically move and shoot. I say this as a 21 year military veteran. I've seen LEOs and military Soldiers scoring 1-3 peripheral hits out of 20-30 rounds on a static range and somehow calling themselves good.

Find someone capable of discussing how to harden the facility you're in to make it a harder target. Consult work for this, from a knowledgable person, may/may not be pricey. Be ready for that.

Lastly, train train train. I have a group that I teach once per month. They are Jews who have taken it upon themselves to learn to defend their synagogues. The classes I teach them involve things like hardening their facilities, room clearing, buddy move/buddy shoot drills, etc. All this on top of shooting, shooting and a bit more shooting several drills I call "triple nickel" and "ten cubed" drills to hone accuracy.

Make sure the volunteer security are actually trained, especially if they are armed. Lot of people have their heart in the right place but lack the skills to properly do the job.

First I’m glad he didn’t get hit. But on a side note, to put the word “Pastor” before the name “John Hagee” is a definite oxymoron. He preaches a false gospel. Just say’n.
