    Friday Night Classical

Wynton Marsalis is the only person to win Grammys in both jazz and classical music in the same year.

"rap is hormone driven pop music", and hip hop reinforces destructive behavior at home and influences the world's view of the Afro American in a decidedly negative direction." - Wynton Marsalis

Kathleen Battle (soprano) and Wynton Marsalis (trumpet):
    Handel ("Let The Bright Seraphim")

On baroque trumpets and period instruments (David Blackadder on trumpet).

    --------------------------------------
    Let the bright seraphim
    in burning row,
Their loud, uplifted angel trumpets blow.

    Let the cherubic host,
    in tuneful choirs,
    Touch their immortal harps
    with golden wires.

On May 6 the world will hear Handel: Zadok the Priest which has been played at every new King's coronation for centuries.

      Zadok the Priest
      And Nathan the Prophet
      Crown-ed Solomon king!
      ----
And all the people rejoiced, and said:
God save the King, Long live the King
      May the king live forever
      Alleluia Amen

Handel's theme was Jewish Patriotism, an attempt to attract more Jews to his performances in 1700's London.

        Chorus of Priests
Swell, swell the full chorus to Solomon's praise,
Record him, ye bards, as the pride of our days.
Flow sweetly the numbers that dwell on his name,
And rouse the whole nation in songs to his fame.

        Paul McCreesh, conductor
        Gabrieli Consort & Players
Recorded at the Chapelle Royale, Ch?teau de Versailles
