    Does God care?

Priest used We instead of I during baptism.

A priest has resigned from a Catholic church in Phoenix, Arizona, after it was determined he incorrectly performed thousands of baptisms for decades by changing one word.

Man rules do not trump those of God.

Theological discussion aside, this priest should have known that the correct wording is "I", not "we". I'm wondering if he intentionally did that because he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

But assuming that it was an honest mistake, how did none of his staff, elders or rest of the congregation not correct him for the past 20 years if the wording is so important? Failure by a lot of people. Lack of vigilance.

Of course not. No "official" words were given in the Bible and that's just the Catholic doing religion and driving people from God like the do so well. And I meant the Catholic Church, not Catholics

God doesn't care about anything in the Catholic church. If anything, He would use this as a wake-up call that the RCC is of man, and not His Church (1Cor. 1:2 - "The church of God").

Much adoo about a piece of paper following a water baptism. Do you get baptised before a religion, or before God Almighty and Jesus the Lord over and into our/your salvation? When Philip baptised the servant of a queen did the pope or any other non existant religious entity approve, or give the servant a piece of paper or parchment certifying the ceremony AND the words used by Philip ? I doubt it, BUT, neither me or anyone else in the 20th century witnessed it. BUT....GOD witnessed it. SOOOOOO, what is the big deal ? Check out the story in the Book Of The Acts of The Apostles. Likewise the story of baptising the household of Cornelius, Romans, who believed under Peter's ministering the gospel to them.

Just my not so humble point of view.

Baptism by immersion is the Biblical way in the first place so why not start there?

Would it not be most important to simply follow the teachings of Jesus?
