Had a dream, felt a lot like Revelation

A couple nights ago, I had a dream kind of out of left field, which has had me wondering about it because it's not something I've been thinking about. In my dream, I came to understand what was happening and that the events were biblical in nature. I'm curious if others have had a similar experience.

To sum it up, the sequence of events in my dream were very reminiscent of what's written in Revelation 9:1-9:15. I was sitting somewhere watching the sun set, and when the sun had almost completely set, it rose back up a little bit, and then a column of smoke rose from the ground which completely covered it and darkened everything.

9:1-2 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
Then, out of the smoke came four fierce looking armored beings on horseback (angels?), but able to fly through the air, which in my dream I understood to be there to bring justice and judgment to mankind, and they began slaughtering many. One of them came up to me, sword raised, and I was very scared waiting to be stricken down, but the (angel?) left me and moved on.

9:13-15 And*the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
After that took place, I remember walking around the streets of whatever town I was in with my family and many of the people were gone, and in my dream I understood them to have been killed. So I suppose that represented the 1/3 of mankind gone? That's the last of what I remember.

Now I know there's a gap given what I remember from my dream and what's written in the book, and I don't recall anything about scorpion-like locusts in my dream, so I have no answers for that. The whole thing just struck me as odd considering it's been a long time since I've read Revelation, and I don't remember much of it in detail, so I had to read that section again after having that dream to compare.

Now I'm not saying it was something and I'm not saying it was nothing, I just don't know. As I said it's not something which has been on my mind, so I'm not sure why I would suddenly have a dream about it, and the fact that the events seemed to be biblically accurate is intriguing to me. I don't know if it's logical to believe God is speaking to me, telling me "these things are coming soon and you're going to live to see it, don't be afraid" or if that's reading too much into it. How could I accurately dream about something of which I definitely do not recall details about?

Just looking for insight, and if any other believers in Christ have experienced similar dreams. Thanks.

I have had dreams not so much like yours but where I felt God was reaching out. Mine was extra biblical and I did not receive an answer till about 20 years later and after I had come to recently believe and I was going through a test. The dream was powerful enough to vividly remember that long after.

If God is speaking to you then He will provide a meaning.

God works in mysterious ways. Or, more accurately, His ways are beyond our understanding. God is love. God desires that people be saved. Consider the lengths God has gone to save mankind.

Sometimes God touches you with things that are amazing and sometimes with things you don't understand. Consider the effect the dream has had on you. Lots of people spend their life not giving God a thought. No matter what the dream means, your mind is now on God. Anyway, just a thought.

What was your state of mind around the time of this dream? Your sub consious mind reveals things as we sleep. Often these subs are mixed with conscious thoughts while sleeping.

Discussion with family and your pastor may reveal some key points to understanding what or if there is any relevance to this event.

Just me, but I tend to say this to you.......I would consider this as from from the Lord. Next I would consider Jeremiah ch 33, take a look, and then ask the Lord for HIS understanding of why, and what it was about. Ice cream and pizza has nothing to do with it. Be patient, you will receive the proper understanding in HIS time. The guy with the sword passing you by is not hard to understand, YOU were NOT on the list !

Black Elk had similar visions -- likely inspired by similar apolcalyptic literature. Pretty sure he had a mental illness, like most prophets in history (Biblical prophets not being any exception). But the visions helped his community and his community helped him. Right or wrong, accurate or hogwash, it doesn't really matter as far as what gives you meaning & helps you get through your day.

Just be careful that you don't fall victim to the intoxicating ego-stroking that the divine powers have chosen you to convey a special message for others. That kind of vanity starts you down a dark and dangerous path. Better to keep these things among trusted friends instead of public forums.
