      NEVER heard of her.

The best thing about the Book of Revelation is?

      Jesus WINS.

WE are called to remain steadfast in the saving faith, keep our wits about us, & focus on Jesus, that we are not deceived. ESPECIALLY... by idle speculation.

As a student of Eschatology since the 60's, I've firmly believed that the Bible speaking on the final destruction of Babylon is literally talking about the city of Babylon where the Jewish nation was taken into captivity during the time of the Old Testament prophets.

However, I have heard and read some good scholars that say that the evil Babylon described in scripture is the United States. I spoke with my pastor about this in a private meeting recently. He said, "America is Babylon. Netherlands is Babylon. Every nation is Babylon. Each nation that does the evil described of Babylon is warned by God of the fate of nations that do the practices, the evils of Babylon and will suffer the same fate." That makes sense to me. It is a warning.

Check out The Fall Of Babylon.

We must remember that the Jewish captives were called out of bondage in Babylon to the place that God had prepared for them. From the link above:

A Call to Separation from Babylon (Revelation 18:4-5)

18:4-5 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

As John contemplates the announcement of the fall of Babylon, he hears another voice from heaven addressed to the people of God instructing them to come out of Babylon. In a similar way the people of God were urged to leave Babylon in ancient days (Jer. 51:45). Seiss explains the phrase “come out of her,” citing Jeremiah 50:4-9 where the children of Israel are urged to “remove out of the midst of Babylon” (Jer. 50:8), and the command “Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul” (Jer. 51:6).288 Alford compares the command to come out of Babylon to the warning to Lot to leave Sodom (Gen. 19:15-22).289 The purpose of leaving Babylon is twofold: first, by separation from her they will not partake of her sin, and second, they will not have her plagues inflicted on them. The reference to plagues refers to the vials of chapter 16, especially the seventh vial which falls upon Babylon itself (16:17-21). This is further evidence that the event of chapter 18 is subsequent to the seventh vial and therefore in contrast to the destruction of the harlot in chapter 17.
Babylon was powerful. Babylon was evil. Babylon rejected God.

I had a minister give an opinion that the great tree of Daniel 4, which most take to represent Nebuchadnezzer, might actually be the United State. His idea was that the great tree provided shelter, food, safety, etc to the animals, at no cost to them. The only country in history to have done stuff like that was the United States.
I'm not saying that he was correct, but it is an interesting thought.

Seems like every time I think I have God's plan figured out I get it wrong. Often I'm wrong in a way that sends chills down my spine thinking about how awesome God really is. So bottom line, I'm the first to confess there is a lot I don't understand. For me the game plan is to have the faith of a child. I'm just holding firm to the cross with the expectation that I'm going on the most exciting ride ever ... knowing all the time I am safe in His hands.

Also, do you believe God speaks to prophets through dreams? If so, have any of you watched the videos shared by Pastor Dana Coverstone? Many things he shared have come true. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAZGxTiX6bY

                    THIS ^^^^

I have learned . . . too many times, that our thoughts are not GOD's thoughts. Just when I thought I had something figured out or that I was in control of a situation, HE came along and totally shocked me with something else.

It's best just to pray and step out in faith. HE will use you in ways you can't imagine if you let him.

NO America is not Babylon referenced in Rev ch 17 & 18. But saying/typing this is just my not so humble point of view. One chapter is a city/country and the other is a " System of men " judged by God Almighty for obvious reasons. The list of contenders is long, but America is not Babylon. Read the reason Babylon is set up for judgement in the book of Jeremiah, " for the controversy of Zion," the destruction of the Temple Solomon built ! Scratch around and find it. Anyone remember that Saddam Hussein was rebuilding ancient Babylon ? He rebuilt the Isahtar Gate that is shown in some Bible maps. He didn't get all of the city rebuilt but he made a good start.

While no one knows. I believe God will just let us parade around down here like idiots until He doesn’t.

When does it stop? Not for us to say. It is only for us to be prepared when it happens.

Babylon = Rome. It's code-language to keep John out of trouble with the authorities.

But if you're going to fast-forward this to the end of days, and you assume this happens in our lifetimes, then America stands to be a pretty good candidate.

literal or not, the message is universal. human's behavior are toward wickedness and it is getting worse with increasing lawlessness. remember the time of noah, full of violence and couple that with falling away from faith.

All pointing towards the heaven, the reappearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is soon. Come quickly Lord.
