Keeping Church Going during Lockdown

As I am on the board, we are very worried about staying solvent if the lockdown doesn't lift as expected. Given that we are no longer passing the baskets every Sunday, we are looking to take advantage of relief from the CARES Act to keep our staff. Anyone else make good progress on that?

It's 2020 dude. You can tithe online. That is, if your congregation is willing. I would think they are.

Answering the thread title, “Keeping Church Going during Lockdown”, our church is doing online worship music and sermons. Wife and I are mailing our offering checks to the church.

Not trying to display a attitude, but I do not and will not tithe or offer $$ online to any church. Mail to the church works just fine. As well I will not listen to sermons or teaching over the phone etc. But however it works for others is not for me to direct. I am looking for the Lord to see us thru this carnage thrust upon us by the scoundrels in china. God Will be with you all.

The church I attend is pretty large and even a decade ago the majority of the giving was done online. There are various service providers who can set that up for you; I don't have any particular expertise, but can tell you I have used PushPay and Church Community Builder/CCB as a rank-and-file congregant.

Unfortunately, there are no perfect solutions, and even though online giving has been commonplace for years at the church I attend, a good portion of the folks simply will not give if they are not present on Sunday, nor do they make up for missed weeks.

Sounds like your churches are maybe younger or more technical advanced. We do have online options, but it’s not for everyone. 50% percent hit the baskets each Sunday. I hope they start mailing it in. We will see...

Our Pastor threw up a Youtube page real quick, and began recording a service of "Prayers & Preaching." It's not the full Divine Service, to be sure, but it's better than nothing.


And the USPS is still delivering, so I'm mailing my tithe in, too.

Roger that. All the churches that I have contacts with in the Antelope Valley have gone to online streaming for their services.

Lots of worship pastors are doing music online as well. Tommy Walker Ministries has put together some excellent live worship. It is about an hour long. He streams it from home and he, with his family, play instruments and sing. It can be found on FaceBook and Instagram.

Our church sent a letter to all givers with a self addressed, stamped envelope. We saw a nice bump back up in the giving... we'll basically hit our budgeted income for March. Praise God!

Keeping Church Going during Lockdown

My congregation has an online option, mail option, or they can give when they pickup/ have delivered their weekly communion. There currently is no danger of any paid member losing their salary, thankfully.

Ask your self, what matter s most, your congregation, or your funds ?

Just keep services on line.
The last thing you want is, to lose those you have reached.

This is ALL that matters, nothing else counts in IMHO

God is good and I continue to have faith that he will provide in one way or another. Our paid staff has been excellent in this crisis and most our services and ministries have adapted and continued via Zoom and other technology. As some of you shared, maybe giving will continue. Praying this is so, so we can keep these ministries and staff going in supporting our community.
