I struggle with anything that puts the focus on culture rather than the Gospel. In my opinion the video series misrepresents many positions, sets up straw men and proceeds to knock them down.
This might make some believers feel good, but it also sets them up for failure when actually discussing the issues with more objective people or those outside the faith. Anytime culture is focused more than the Gospel there is going to be deviations from truth. Just be careful not to drink all the cool aide.
just my 2 cents.Last edited by JeffC; 01-13-2018, 9:26 AM.I want gay married couples to be able to protect their marijuana plants with gunsComment

While I agree scripture should be the focus, there is external knowledge available that can be useful when put in its proper place. I agree with your characterization of Warren. Tackett meanwhile can be useful, but also more dangerous.
Haven spent many years in college ministry, I have seen kids faith destroyed by the presenting the same bogus arguments as Tackett and getting destroyed by professors who present actual logical arguments instead of the straw-men or red-herrings tackett defeats.I want gay married couples to be able to protect their marijuana plants with gunsComment

I'm planning to teach a Christian Worldview series in Sunday School, so I'm going to check out the series. From the outline it's got a lot of basic systematic theology in it.
I've always wanted to equip our body to Biblically understand everything that the see, hear, and read from the world. Having already done series on Terrorism, Creation, Union with Christ, etc., I shouldn't have to extend too much other than to add some systematic areas like theology (study of God), anthropology, etc.
When I was in college, I took a course in my economics degree called "The Economics of Public Issues." It had a chapter on everything we read in the newspapers with an economic analysis of it. That is the basis of what I'd like to here - A Biblical Christian perspective on all the big "issues" / things the world confronts us with.
Looking forward to seeing how well they did. I don't have much hope for anything from focus on the family, so we'll see!Pastor Bill

I bought the series. I read the reviews. I'm going to watch it, but also discern it. I read in the more negative reviews, he does setup straw men, only to knock them down. A lot of people can tear down a weak argument, it's the complicated arguments that aren't as easy, and you get destroyed.
