    Carl Lentz

I was home sick and was browsing thru the cable channels,

came across a young hipster called Carl Lentz from Hillsong on the 700 channel...

He speaks the truth and reaches a totally different demographic. Young people can get behind this, because the Word is alive...I like it...

Every Sunday thousands flock to Hillsong Church in NYC, but it's not your typical, traditional church.

"When the system breaks down, you get to vote from the rooftops. Its one of the last best traditions of western enlightenment"

"This was an IQ test/science experiment of Josef Mengele proportions, and the public willingly lapped it up. And many failed". (me, on Wuhan flu, 2022)

    Question EVERYTHING.

"Sure buddy. Whatever you say. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to sleep at night"

How does this church compare to the church described / taught in the New Testament?

I would question whether or not he speaks the truth. Do a little more research and see if you still think he is someone you can get behind.

Actually, it appears that Mr. Lentz is either unaware of what the Scriptures teach, or more likely, is simply unwilling (for whatever reason) to actually teach everything the Scriptures teach. To wit, take a look at http://www.dailywire.com/news/23226/...gn=benshapiro#

He is unwilling to declare sin to be "sin".

        James 3:1 comes to mind,
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 also comes to mind,
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
        Regarding the 2nd Amendment:
"...to disarm the people ― that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason ("The Father of the Bill of Rights")

        Regarding Life and Death:
"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

The BIG question: "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?" Matthew 27:22b

I question Lentz and his message. However to be “fair,” I could be very well wrong about him because I’m not really familiar with his preaching. But from the little that I’ve seen of him, he seems to white wash certain immoral behavior and doctrine of the Christian faith. I’m just observing the “fruit” that he brings forth... (Matthew 7:16-20).

On Homosexuality for instance, he doesn’t publically denounce the practice, nor come out and say that it is immoral and wrong. By his sugar coating response and inaction of the subject, he basically goes against what the Bible clearly tells us on the matter of homosexuality:

          -Leviticus 18:22
          -Leviticus 20:13-15
          -1Corinthians 6:9-11
          -Jude 1:7
          -Romans 1:26-28
          -Romans 1:18-32
          -Mark 10:6-9
          -1 Timothy 1:8-11
          -1Kings 14:24
          -Genesis 19:1-38
          -Matthew 19:4-6
          -Revelation 21:8
          -Revelation 22:15
          -Judges 19:1-30
          -1Corinthians 6:18
          -Deuteronomy 22:5
          -Mark 7:20-23
          -1 Thessalonians 4:3
          -Acts 15:29
          -Colossians 3:5
          -Ephesians 5:1-21
          -Hebrews 13:4

Some quick info I found using google :

”In a recent interview on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Carl Lentz explains that he hopes that churches like his will “transform the way people experience their relationship with God.” Oprah then asks Carl Lentz, “do you believe that only Christians can be in a relationship with God.” His reply,

”No, I believe that when Jesus said that “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” the way I read that, Jesus said that he is the road marker, he is the map, so I think that God loves people so much, that whether they accept or reject him, he’s still gracious, and he’s still moving, and he’s still giving you massive red blinking lights, for chances to take a right turn when maybe you’d take a left, but I believe God loves people, and that’s what this whole gospel is based on, it’s love….”

He’s preaching Oprah’s garbage that “God just loves everybody” blah blah blah... oprah is a “universalist,” which is ultimately a denier of Christ being the ONLY way to the Father, a direct contradiction of John 14:6.

          Jesus said:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Basically, there’s no sugar coating what Jesus meant. He clearly says that “most” people will NOT go to heaven to be present with The Lord. On the contrary, only a narrow few will be present with the Lord, while the majority will be in “hell.” It appears that this Lentz character is sugar coating the truth and contradicts what the Bible says.

I cringe when I hear people (like Lentz) routinely say, “Jesus is Love.” While a true statement on the outside, the reality was that Jesus was NOT a tolerant push-over, which many luke warm or atheists tend to falsely spew out of their food holes.

I think a quote by John MacArthur is apropos here on the overall matter:

”Condemning or calling out the false teachers is what Jesus did in Matthew 23. He was not polite about it either. In fact, Jesus calls them "sons of hell" (v.15). He goes on to call them "fools and blind!" (v.17). In (v.28) he says "...outwardly you appear righteous, but inside you're full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." Confronting false teachers is the work of Christ. Warning about false teachers is the work of Christ and should be the work of every believer. Merely sitting quiet and being tolerant of a false teacher is being unloving and doesn't defend the Christian faith. We can't be polite when people's eternal souls are at stake."
          -John MacArthur
