    (catholic) question about mass

Hi guys, it has been a while since I've been to church and even longer since I did my 1st communion.

When taking the Eucharist, what words am I suppose to say? How about when drinking the wine.

lol sorry about my lack of knowledge regarding correct terms.

The Eucharistic minister will say "this is the body/blood of Christ." Amen, step to the side and sign of the cross. That's more or less how it's been for more since my First Communion in 1981.

          "The body of Christ"

          "Amen"

12 years of total immersion in that as a child. Walked from school to church multiple times a week and did the altar boy thing too. Granted that was eons ago, when 'corpus christi' was the phrase I remember since masses were mostly in Latin

i don't believe any of that stuff is biblical. that's why i am not catholic but rather Christian.

As a christian we follow true biblical scripture which is not the experience i had and observe with the catholic religion.

there are bible lessons about not partaking in such rituals

I don't think you drink the wine. Only the priest does. I'm not catholic though so it's an outsider's perspective.

The Eucharist is 100% biblical. In all four gospels we are taught about this. Jesus said "take this all of you and eat it, this is my body. Take this cup and drink of it, this is my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant.

St Paul also speaks of the Eucharist in 1 Corinthians 11. In this chapter he talks about the Eucharist and warning not to eat and drink if you are in a state of mortal sin.

So to answer your question the magic word is amen, but if it has been a while I would recommend going to confession first so you can be in full communion with Christ.

I hope this helps and thanks be to God!

The Roman Catholic tradition is for the host. Priest "Body of Christ" you "Amen"

Episcopal tradition in addition offers host and wine Priest "The cup of salvation"

Presbyterian, Methodists, and Baptist traditions offer a group presentation rather than individual delivery of the bread and wine. With a prayer.

Yes the blood of Christ is drunk by all, and as others have said "Amen" is the response to the priests prompt

Holy smokes, the Catholics are offering wine at Holy Communion nowadays?
Well, there's one good reason to return to Catholicism I guess.
