    Interesting Article and some history...

Interesting article, not only for the quote I offered but as a whole.

To survive in a hostile culture, Christians must articulate and exemplify an alternative vision of human flourishing, just like they did when they started.

I'm surprised no one commented on this, not even comparing it to today.

Was out of town for a few days but it is amazing how well this relates to today. We are quickly skipping down the path of destruction, difference being is that the rest of the world is going with us.

What would be the point? It's the norm of human history not an outlier. It goes on today, yesterday, and for all time. Why is it different than any other time?

If you are referring to it being the norm in pre Christian times then you are maybe correct, but to say its the norm today makes no sense. Homosexuality is so prevalent today that men prefer men over women is the norm? When people are sick they run away from fear of dying themselves instead of staying and caring for them?

Homosexuality is just has prevalent today has it was in the Roman Empire. If you really want to take a look at historic homosexuality then look no further than Sodom, the city had gotten so decadent that God judged them.

Apparently you missed one of the points which was it was MUCH MORE prevalent in Rome than it is today. So prevalent that it was a cause of declining births. That Christianity's teachings set the stage to abate Romes decline by teaching marriage and family was a better way than the debauchery of Rome. You cite Sodom, that alone should tell you that it was MORE prevalent, where the whole city was debaucherous.

I guess people think that todays society/culture was "the same as it ever was", same back then as it is today.

Well if we look at the bible, it doesn't really give us total numbers of how many people were homosexual or bisexual. Yes towns and large classes of people were wiped out by God due to several sins (homosexuality, Pagen god worship, child sacrifices etc....) but we really don't know "how many." The thing is, since Christ's atonement, God doesn't do the same things He did in the OT times and under "Mosaic law."

I think homosexuality was practiced in great numbers back then as it is now. It's all proportional with the population and today it's just more accepted by a Godless society and more people flaunt that they're gay. As a result, it may appear that it's more or less prevelent today.

                    Just my humble opinion.

Ahhh....but the article isn't about homosexuals per se, its about adoption of Christian principals by a pagan society and what it led to. Indeed the article is about what Christians should expect as todays society reverts back to paganism. Looking at Europe as a society that is fast fading due to low birth rates (and other things) since they threw off Christianity for secularism is more of what the article is talking about.
