Just wondering if any folks listen to Through The Bible by J Vernon McGee what their thought on the program are, if they agree/disagree, and if they think the teaching is biblically sound. Let's here it.

I've been a rider on "The Bible Bus's 5-year Journey" with J Vernon McGee several times over. I've also enjoyed his Sunday Sermons and Saturday Q&A broadcasts over the years and (years ago) even used to read his commentaries.

I don't agree with EVERYTHING he taught, but the man loves the Lord and was faithful to exegetically and systematically teach through the Scriptures line-by-line. Even though I may not agree with EVERYTHING he taught, his teaching is biblically-sound and his knowledge of the Scriptures was substantial. The Lord has used him and the TTB organization (and is still using it) to help bring many to Christ for the first time and to help bring many others to maturity in Christ.

Bottom line: I highly recommend it.

I kind of picture him preaching under a tent on a hot day in the deep south.

Year ago I used to listen to him daily. I think he is a great bible teacher.

He's not in the reformed tradition and speaks against it, but I still give him a thumbs up.

My dad was his secretary back in 1940. The guy is pretty much right on. The accent is a bit hard to listen to, but the content is good.

It is good to hear that there are some that listen to him. I rather enjoy the accent and can say that due to his teaching is what lead me back to church. I figure plenty of people listen to him but no-one where I go to church. I don't agree with all that he teaches but 98% of it I do. I enjoy his perspective even though it is dated much of it is still relevant and in some cases applies even more today. And to think he died in 1988.

Except for the dispensational stuff, he's ok for a cursory peruse of the Bible.

I quickly changed the station when I first heard him on the radio, just based on his southern drawl. But one day, I just left it there. I'm glad I did, because he's actually very funny and insightful. He's concise with this words and is a very good teacher.

Damon, good teaching never becomes dated. My commentary by Matthew Henry dates back to the 1600's. It is still a relevant source of learning. As for Pastor McGee, he's still being used by God to bring people to (or back to) a saving grace. Amazing.
