What better way is there than to distort GODS WORD than by leaving out the entirety of what the verse really means. The words beneath the statues show part not all and many are decieved for they do not seach for the whole truth. The UN wants to render people weaponless. History wreaks of conquerors who let their subject races carry arms that made way their own downfall. You are right the UN does not care about GOD But the UN cares about Christain that do therein trying to undermine Belief through desception and in that lot are Satan's Disciples.

I don't think it's about needing God. They will simply believe that the Lawless One is God when he comes.

Exactly. This is a prophetic passage having to do with the second coming when violence will be done away with, hence no need for weapons.

My OP is pointing out a false doctrine that's being passed around in church circles as an exhortation for Christians to disarm themselves.
This is one way the political left tries to infiltrate and sway the church. This is all the more reason to stick to sound biblical doctrine.

This is taken outside the UN building in NY, notice the first part of the verse is missing.

What do you (both believers and non believers) think?
I believe they miss Quote it and is an Injustice to do so to the people getting preached what was quoted by who ever because they take it out of its entirety and by doing so puts it in the wrong time frame. This is reserved for the very end time but it does seem to be getting closer ...They leave out the first part(He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples)Which designates Christ being here. There are a several different commentarys on this for instants. Benson Commentary:
Isaiah 2:4. He shall judge among the nations — He shall set up and exercise his authority, in and over all nations, not only giving laws to them, as other rulers do, but doing that which no others can do, convincing their consciences, changing their hearts, and ordering their lives; and shall rebuke many people — By the power of his word, compared to a two- edged sword in Scripture, and by the grace of his Spirit, convincing the world of sin: as also by the remarkable judgments which he will execute on those that are incorrigible, and especially on those of his implacable enemies who set themselves to oppose the propagation of his gospel. They shall beat their swords into plough-shares — This description of a well- established peace is very poetical. The Prophet Joel hath reversed it, and applied it to war prevailing over peace; beat your plough-shares into swords, and your pruning-hooks into spears, Joel 3:10. And so likewise the Roman poet

There are several commentarys which are similar. You decided and make the comparison with some of the other commentators like Westley or others.....I am no bible expert but have done some study and do believe these verses refer to the end time and times.. ..............You decide for yourselves. I just thought I would put it out here and it does seem like some agree.I would like to hear what every has to say on this and anyway If I get ripped I don't mind.

We may be close to the beginnings according to God's plan (even though the nations are at the present anti-Christian, God be able to convert quickly) but we have not arrived at the point of disarmament. I will say though I believe large standing and professional armies are troubling to me, and probably unscriptural. Much mischief has been perpetrated with armies in history.
Don't even think about it Dave.........

It would take TREMENDOUS faith for Israel to lay down their weapons.

It's related to post Armageddon.. Applying it to today and justifying disarmament is an abomination! Besides, we just recently learned how to turn a shovel into an AK!
