Do you carry at home?

There's a thread going on over in the concealed carry section http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1035855 about carrying,
with seemingly most of the camp stating they carry all the time even at home. Then there is some who think it's paranoid. Many cite the chance of "Home Invasion" as the reason they carry all the time.

Personally....I have a gun accessible but to carry at home seems likely unnecessary to me...but hey, what do I know.So I thought I'd poll the professional here. What say you? LEO ONLY Please!

I have a firearm accessible. I don't walk around the house strapped.

Only if I'm breaking in a new holster, and then the gun is not loaded. Since every home invasion I have ever worked was a targeted crime, I don't see them as being random crime's like burglary is. And I'm far enough out in the sticks that you can't exactly walk up to my house without being seen or alerting the dog.

When I lived in Phoenix I often would. But now I live in the sticks, and I have a blue heeler that follows me everywhere who hears a squirrel fart at 100 yards.
I Keep a shotgun on the mantle but thats it. The rest in the safe.

That thread certainly has some posts that come across as being from paranoid individuals. That being said; if someone wants to carry a firearm in/around their house more power to them. Just don't be surprised if I think someone genuinely worried about carrying while showering/taking a dump/swimming in their backyard is paranoid.

As for me; I almost never "carry" in my house but I certainly have firearms (yes, that is plural) at hand.

When I'm inside my house, I take it easy. I only carry my duty pistol on my hip, my backup on my ankle and my AR slung. I ditch the SWAT vest for a lightweight plate carrier and don't bother with the ballistic helmet. After all, I think I should be able to relax inside the house.

Home invasion robberies go down super fast, without any pre-warning, too fast to get to something which is not already on you.

I pocket carry and am too lazy to take it out and clear it when I get home.

It wouldn't make sense for a criminal to go to a nice neighborhood to steal nicer cars or burglarize nice homes now would it?

In the house, no. Working in the yard I keep a small auto or 38 in my pocket. Two tall shelves have .45's, no kids in the house.

I live in a very nice neighborhood and pocket carry at home. My next door neighbor has been broken into 3 times, a neighbor down the street twice and multiple others in the development have been hit. Last week a woman a couple of blocks away had a gun pulled on her as she went to her car in the morning to drive to work. Druggies seem to have figured out that a nice neighborhood = a good score.
