Can't you still qualify at your institution? Used to be able to pay the fee, different at different institutions, go to the range and talk to range staff. You just showed them your receipt that you paid and then the range staff would qualify you. It all went well unless they had a IST range day.

Harold1950 is correct that you can qualify at your institution. However, if you're like me and don't want the hassle of going to your accounting office to pay the fee and then have to show up on a quarterly qualification day. Also having to bench your gun and ammo in the tower if you're working that day. Or if you live close to your institution, you could go on an RDO. Me ,personally, I go to The Gun Room in Elk Grove and can be in and out usually within 20 minutes. Just go in and let the counter person know that you are there for a CDC qual, fill out the paperwork, give them you id's (both DL and dept I'd), they'll also need your off duty qual card (if you have one, if not they have some), go into the range, set up, and then wait for the range master.

12 @ 3 yards in 30 seconds, 12 @ 7 yards in 30 seconds and 12 @ 15 yards in 45 seconds. Yes, it's the POST 832 course of fire, also the same as the CDCR .38 course of fire. No holster work, just pick up off of the bench and shoot, time starts when you start shooting.
