    DQ'd for arrhythmia?

I had my Health evaluation today. did not go as well as i hoped. i passed everything, with the exception of the EKG. the doctor stated it was abnormal. they sent me home and stated that i would be contacted by the city to set up another follow up appt. i went to my doctor and got another EKG done and the doctor advised that i had arrhythmia. She also stated that it is a relatively common thing. she referred me to a cardiologist so i can get a clearance.

Does anyone know if arrhythmia is a condition that can get me DQ'd? I've been in the process for a long time and to make it this far and be DQ'd...well, would just suck. any advice is welcomed! thank you!

I was dq'd during my eye exam. They told me the minimum requirement was 20/40 and according to there eye chart I failed. I went to my eye dr and he told me the department was crazy!! i can read 20/15 at the eye dr. he wrote me a script because he knew the department wanted to see some type of fix. He wrote me the lightest prescription possible and i filled it.

Go see you cardiologist and tell them exactly what is going on. They are usually very understanding and your not the first one they have seen in that situation. Have him document everything and give you a copy. You'll have to fax it over with a cover letter and follow up with whoever is handling your individual case.

Most of the time I've heard they dq people for any small thing and wait to see if they will appeal or jump through the hoops to try and stay in the process. Stick with it and don't let them beat you!!!! Its well worth the hassle.

Goodluck. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm.

In order to know if it is a significant health problem go see a cardiologist. The type of arrhythmia is key. There are many. Some are more dangerous than others. Odds are, if you've never felt anything out of the ordinary, it's fairly benign. Always get that stuff checked though and the agency is right to look closely.

I have a funny mis-step in my heart beat, and had to get a second opinion on my 20/20 eyes, since the department hired doc said I had terrible eyes. After doing that on my own dollar and submitting paperwork, I was fine. Hopefully it works out for you!

Go see a cardiologist. When I had my medical for the state they told me I had a heart attack... Turns out the EKG leads were "recycled" and improperly placed. A trip to the cardiologist for a follow up exam determined I was more than fit for duty... There are some shady doc in the box places out there!!

Thanks guys! I set up an appt. with my cardiologist for this coming Tuesday. I have been told by my doctor that depending on the type of arrhythmia I have, if I have it, that it is fairly common and should not be an issue. I hope the doctor is right. I will update you guys on Tuesday after my appt.

Sane thing here. I had to see my regular Doctor, get evaluated and get a letter stating I was fit for duty.

I was DQ'd for almost the same exact thing. Went to a cardiologist, did a stress echo, got a letter stating I was a bad mofo, and took it back to HR. Got hired. Easy peasy.
