I also kept my shirts with buttons. That gun is my "I'm F'd" gun. Don't want to mess with a zipper. Just grab and rip, let them buttons fly. Maybe I'll take a bad guy's eye out with one!

      Revolver

Ruger LCR .38 with XS front sight. Miles ahead of the 442 and I've owned and carried both.

          Glock 26.

We are limited to what the agency says we can carry as a back-up.

Yup. Different local codified & case laws, Dept policies & procedures, supervisors, Dept & personal budgets, personal life experience & training, etc... Do the best with what we got and every new morning is gravy.

              Carry a S&W 642-2 .38+P.

Already saved my bacon once. I keep wanting to replace with a semi auto -- and have -- but I keep going back to the trusty .38.

Ruger LCP .380. Always in external vest carrier, setup for off-hand draw. Great location for me, but the gun will be replaced with something better. Great suggestions in this thread.

I carry a Springfield XD subcompact for the colder months and a Ruger LC9 for the hotter months.

Carried a M&P 340 religiously. Four .38's and the last one was a magnum.
Looking to acquire a Marlin 336 Texan. Hit me up if you are contemplating getting rid of one.

The back up gun absolutely has to work when you need it. I carried a 5 shot S&W with confidence. Semiautos can be questionable sometimes, depend on how well it was maintained. So, I heard.
