    LAPD Police Shooting

Recovered weapon pictured in the linked LA Times article appears to be a legal (i.e. featureless) .30 M1 Carbine with a 30 round magazine.

Investigators were trying to piece together the circumstances of an apparent attempt to shoot at two Los Angeles police officers, which left part of South Los Angeles sealed off into the early hours of Monday morning.

There's been a lot of coverage of the shooting over the last couple of days.

Curious whether it winds up being the officers were targeted, rolled into a gunbattle, or rolled across a couple of thugs with itchy trigger fingers looking for rivals...

Hoover/62nd St, my opinion is they were a target.
