just wondering if any of you leos ever helped a friend (non leo) get a ccw. Basically by writing a letter of some sort whether it be their character or otherwise. any ideas?

The Sonoma County sheriff requires (unlawfully, I believe) 3 letters of good moral character before an application will be process...and denied. I know several LEOs here have written letters for people they have known for several years. -
I would if I could. I can't even help get a CCW for my wife (and I am friends with several high ranking members of the local SO). I am hoping Peruta will change that.sigpicComment

If any of my friends approached me and asked, I would do anything within my power to help them get one. I've told friends and relatives to put me down if they ask for references, but I have yet to receive a call. It's a BS process most of the time, and this state should be "shall issue".Comment

For my letters, I included how I knew the applicant, and for how long I knew him... I then went on to relate why I thought the applicant was of good moral character...I also included in one case what the applicant had done while working in the community....Poke'm with a stick!

I wrote one for my friend of a good character, and he was issued a CCW license about a year ago from a rather big county.Comment
