Friend told firearms must be registered

A friend of mine is in the process of applying to LAPD

At his background check he said the were shocked that he owed 15 guns.

Then they asked if they were all registered

He answered honestly no

They then replied you need to register them.

I don't have more details than that but he said they were very clear that he had to register them

Does this sound odd to any of you ?

It does sound kind of odd but I figured it was just your writing style.

It could be department policy but, more than likely it is pure ignorance on the part of the interviewer/LAPD as a whole.

Trust me, more than likely it's misunderstanding of existing laws. Time and time again I get the shock and astonishment every time I explain to my partners the process of 80% lowers and pistol lowers and how and why registration is not relevant or necessary for the 80%.

Most of the time they want to jump on the band wagon.
