Is there a 10 day wait for LEO

I've asked around and can't seem to get a solid answer. I asked a FFL and he wasn't sure.

I am looking to buy a private gun PPT and I'm not clear if there is a wait. Yes I have bought a gun this year and did the 10 day wait but it was my understanding that it has changed.

    Thanks

For the wait to be waived you must have an accompanying letter from your agency.

10 day wait applies to PPT or new purchases from the dealer. Agency letter is required to have the 10 day waived, in either scenario.

This is in the courts now, Leo or not. The waiting period has zero effect on reducing gun violence.

But what about cities like Chicago, New York and Washington DC? They have some of our nation's most Draconian gun laws and those cities have practically no violent/gun crimes!

Whatever happens in the rest of the real America has no bearing in this state. The judgment has been issued to eliminate the wait (unless you are a first time gun buyer) and when AG Kamala Harris appealed the ruling she got donkey kicked by the judge. The CaDoJ has a couple more months to get it all figured out and placed into operation.

Yes, unless you have a letter from your dept. I have two in gun jail right now!

I look forward to the day when the 10 day wait is over for all law abiding citizens. I am also looking forward to California becoming a default "shall issue" state.

                Stay safe.

I still can't believe the AG wanted to continue this fight. If someone who ALREADY owns a gun wants to kill another, they are not going to buy another gun to do the act... Come on...

I had to wait the 10 days like everyone else. But they did make me feel important by throwing in a hat and some stickers.

All my purchases including guns I use as secondary and off duty...I had to wait...our agency can issue a waiver but only one during your career with the agency. I figured by the time I completed the Memo to the chief and got it signed and returned, it would have been around 10 days.

Fwiw.... Here in AR, I buy a gun and take my property with with me regardless of my creds. Nor do any American citizens have to show a rediculous card that says I can actually buy a pistol.

The LE is the same all over the place. I challenge you guys to move to a free state and see what you have been missing. We went from a $160/fam to around 85k and still have the same lifestyle and my wife stays home now too...

If prop 47 wasn't enough..... That is.

This is very true!! I think I got one or two letters to waive the ten days......Then I thought screw it...wasn't worth the hassle.

The 10 day letter is useful when you're buying something far away from home though. It may still take 10 days to get the paper in hand, but at least you only have to make one drive if your gun is a couple hours away instead of the first to pay and do the paperwork and a second just to pick it up.

I've never got a dept. letter. Too lazy I guess, and now it's soon to be a moot point.
