Hi officers! Tonight I was almost killed in traffic, I have dashcam video but it is very dark. Turns out I know the other driver and want to clue him in on the offense(s).
Two lane overpass bridge. Inside lane stopped, outside lane 40mph.
Car A in inside lane wants to go to outside (right) lane and enjoy the movement of traffic. Car A moves into slow lane, immediately cutting off car B (me) who was traveling at 45mph as were the other cars. I braked and turned my car to the right (emergency lane?) whee I slowed more, got control, and moved back into my lane (while car A was still trying to straighten out).
But then it gets weird. Car A comes up behind me and honks. Still no biggee, I manage to resist the urge to flip him off. But then he pulls into the emergency lane to my right an rides along side me! Traffic in my lane is now 5-15mph. There is no room for both of us! I cannot merge left. If I slow he slows, if I speed up he speeds up. We are mere inches apart. When I hug the left side of my lane, he moves into my lane to take up the slack, still not moving forward or back but staying even with me. Scary. We are on an overpass and there are more cars.
Then he gets ahead and cuts in front of me, but just gets his nose in as traffic has stopped again. Then he looks back and sees me. We recognize one another. I point to my dashcam, he backs off and lets me pass and vanishes behind me. When he gets behind me he calls my name and is all nice.
I see this as cvc 21658(a) Unsafe Lane Change; cvc 22400(a) Impeding Traffic. Anything else? I want to edit up the video with the offenses at the time of occurence and show him what it looked like from my end.
