    Stinger or SL-20?

I'm in the market for a new flashlight and see a lot of both. Can anyone shed any light on this topic for me?

I worked Lynwood station in the early 80's. was a very fast station (lynwood east compton and willowbrook) Either of those flashlights will work good for your needs. In your case I would go with a lite weight light. You don't need allagations of a..bites saying you hit them.

Sounds good. Appreciate the input. I'd love to hear some stories sometime.

Is LASO not allowed to use flashlights for impact weapons? I have used my SL 20 as a mini baton lots of times. Plus it will blow out auto glass like nobodys business!

Yes you can. I have in the past, you need to be able to explaine why it or a batton was used. In a fight just about any thing can be used. A watch commander will need to be advised of force used and included in the written report. I used to carry a spring loaded machinist center punch for windows.

LED Stingers are awesome in my book, love them.

I have used both and my answer is neither. If you need a baton, they are great, but if you need light, there are tons of lights in the same price range that will give you the durability and much more light in the same package size. Check with candlepower forum for a list of recommendations. One other thing, you might consider more than one light. I used to carry multiple for different circumstances. A small one on the belt is always available where a large one may get left in the car because you may not need it. A large one is great, just in case you need to hit something and will have a longer run time. Both my stinger and Ultra stinger are now left at home and replaced with more modern versions made by Eagletac and similar companies.

I carried both. The stinger fits nicely on the belt, but the sl20 gives out more light which is better if searching yards or open areas, etc.
