I'm not LEO: But I do operate emergency vehicles and I have seen people do as you did (go through the light) to let us through only to have the redl light camera pop off. Not sure how that gets handled.

I'm interested in this as well. I'm just a civilian, so here's my take. Personally, I wouldn't blow through the intersection. Instead, I would pull my car forward and angle it to the right, just enough to clear the lane for the emergency vehicle(s) to pass.

If the "photoshoot" occurs, the various angles that the images documented will give me all the proof I need to explain to the judge why my car was positioned in such a way. As A-J mentioned, I technically committed a moving violation, but it was to not violate another.

IMO, it'll be a tougher sell to explain that there was an emergency vehicle (which in this example is true), but all the photo will show is that I blew through the intersection. More than likely, the emergency vehicle will not be in any of the background shots.

I don't know if it's right, but I can live with that choice and I'll take my chances based on that assessment. Unless, someone here can offer a better solution based on their experience

        This. Retired is spot on

We recognize when people are trying to do the right thing. Which you did. I wish more people followed that.

        Good on you boss.

          Good policy IMO.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

As long as the light were still red the emergency vehicle should be on the next set of pictures.
