    CHP question

How are the S&W 4006 TSW's holding up?

Im curious to see what officers think of them in 2014.

I didn't have a healthy respect for it until I went through the departments range officer and inspection courses, then I became real fond of it. Holding up just fine so far, seen some problems with the black metal parts used in various parts of the gun, but otherwise a good, reliable shooter. That being said, I would love to have a lighter handgun as the 4006TSW is nearly 2 lbs, with more mag capacity. I'd really like to see an M&P 40 or a SIG in the near future.

Granted the 4006TSW is heavier than comparable duty pistols. That said, it is the softest shooting 40 S&W pistol out there in my experience. The 4006TSW is very robust and reliable as are most 3rd Gen Smiths. I've had more malfunctions in my G22 & G23. My HK P2000 is just as reliable, however, more recoil but I don't have as many rounds downrange.
