    Help with off duty weapon

Currently carrying a glock 19 with a 15 round mag and im constantly adjusting. I carry it on my back right side as that seems the best concealed area for me. Not sure if its the holster or what but im using a 5.11 holster iwb. I have a bunch of other choices in guns to carry but cant decide what i should do.

Keep the glock 19 and get a better holster?
    carry glock 42
    carry bodyguard 380
    shield 9mm?

The only advice I would give is that you might want to reconsider where you are carrying it. Speaking as a multiple back surgery patient and former leo, you really don't want anything pressing against your back. It's bad enough having the cuff cases pressing against your back when in the car while on duty, you don't need your gun doing it.

I'm a lefty and carry my Shield 9mm at 9:00 when I'm wearing pants. When wearing cargo shorts, I carry it in the pocket. I carried my XDSC 9mm at 9:00 for 10yrs. until I recently bought the Shield. Perhaps 3:00-3:30 would work for you.

Back surgery isn't pleasant and it changes your whole life. Not for the good either. Good luck.

I don't IWB any of my double stack guns. I only carry my Glocks when I have some clothing on that I can conceal it carrying OWB. I would suggest carrying a single stack gun with a good holster and belt.

My most comfortable IWB guns right now are a P938 and a P238 both in N82 Tactical Pro holsters. My XDs9 is fairly comfortable, but a little larger than the Sigs. I would try your Shield in a good holster and with a good belt of the guns you listed.

Edit: I carry at 4:00 on my IWB guns. I will move to 3:00 for OWB.

Try a comp tac mtac. Super comfy and concealable. I carry my glock 30 right behind my hip bone and it's perfect for me. Took it on a 8 hour road trip and I didn't even notice it was there.

I have a glock 42 for my bug for work and when I'm dressed light (gym attire). That gun shoots sweet and is very thin and light. Only downside is 6+1 of .380 might leave a little firepower desired.

I carry a bodyguard 380 in the front right pocket when dressed light with an extra mag in the coin pocket. When I want the firepower, I switch between the HK USPc and the Sig P224 using the aliengear IWB holster in 4:00-5:00 position.

The G19 was too much for me for IWB. I can't imagine you wanting to carry a G19 with a 15rd mag at IWB 4 o' clock. That's a bit heavy, yeah? I considered the Shield, Glock 42, Sig P238 and the XDS. In the end, I went with the G42 because it was the best fit for me. I would suggest that you go to your local gun store and handle a few to see what you think.

See now I'm the opposite. I carry either a S&W M&P40c or a S&W 410A F/S both of which are double stack, IWB 3:45 15% cant using a crossbreed Quick Clip holster and a good carry belt with no issues what so ever. I use the compact in the summer when I'm only covering with a tee shirt and the full size when I can wear a jacket.

My guess is the real issue is the holster and/or the belt, belt to me is most important because that is what keeps everything from shifting and sagging.. You can go to a smaller gun if you like but if your like me your weapon of choice is the F/S

Yeah i planned on carrying the 19 in the winter and the 42 in the summer but you could say whats the point in switching back and forth.

I started carrying SIGs shortly after they started importing them in the mid-80's, and while I strayed once or twice, I stayed with that operating system. I carried a P226 for special occasions, and a P225 for plainclothes and off-duty.

When SIG introduced the P239 I had a religious experience. I knew I had found the Promised Land of handguns.

I carried that gun inside my waistband in a Sparks Summer Special, and later in an Executive Companion or whatever they called their upscale IWB. I also carried that gun on my ankle a lot, because the weather and the prevailing styles in San Diego severely limit concealment options. Jeans and tee shirts most of the time.

I am convinced that the Renegade holster on my ankle contributed to a back problem, but it wasn't too bad, just something to be aware of. The P239 carried beautifully in a Sparks IWB holster, it shot like a dream, and it was totally reliable. It was reasonably lightweight and I had a lot of confidence in that single stack of .40 S&W.

That gun worked for me. It is something you might consider. It is reasonably flat and otherwise compact, and not at all blocky like the Glocks. It is an outstanding shooter.

                    Good luck!

G36 iwb or cross draw from belly band
                      Xds 45 iwb
Both are single stack, less rounds more damage!
Lately ive been throwing around the idea of a 9mm either xds or LC9.

I've carried a glock 26 IWB at the 4 o'clock position for almost 10 years. I think the most important thing is to get a sturdy gunbelt.

My current set up is a g-code incog with a volund gearworks Atlas belt. The volund belt is a good balance of support and flexibility. I've used the ares Ranger belt, but it was like barrel hoop.

It might not be a holster issue, it is more likely a belt issue.

What kind of belt are you using?

I've carried a Glock G19 as well as a SIG 228 and 220, never had a problem, but a good belt made all the difference

Get used to carrying a smaller gun OD now. Your hips, knee's and back will thank you for it later.

I carried a G27 and after retiring a G19, usually in an IWB or Uncle Mike's bag. I switched to a Kahr CW9, usually pocket carried and my back is much happier. Even with the Kahr in a Crossbreed at o'clock (I'm a lefty), it's much more comfortable than either of the Glocks in the same carry.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
