There have been times when I've had to drive so fast that the ambulance simply will not go any faster. I can count the number of times I've ever had to do that on ONE hand, out of the hundreds of times I've done Code 3 travel.
I don't think he was advocating risking anything....The way I understood that, which makes perfect sense, is C3 because time is brain/heart cells, vs. C 2 1/2..

If a pt is deteriorating in front of you, drive C3. Fast, within reason, and not risking anyone else's life. I don't think he was saying that a stroke alert justified flying through intersections at 100MPH running over pedestrians..

      This, exactly.

      Thank you.

I hope you are just kidding, because we are virtually always going to get there 2-3 min ahead of Fire thanks to Crown Vic vs Firetruck.

I don't think anyone here would want their local PD to deliberately dawdle if it was their family member that was calling 911 for a medical emergency, just because the officers don't want to deal with it.

Well then, I highly recommend YOU learn and teach EVERYONE in "YOUR family" CPR and basic first aid.

Everyone at my house does know what to do, and I have pushed a radio car to lots of 902R calls. Do you think you are the only cop around here? I don't enjoy it but I will roll hard and do whatever I can to help.

If you advocate slow-rolling to 902R calls then I guess that just sucks for the taxpayers who live in your RD.

As a new collision investigator, I learned that from a salty San Diego PD officer. I wanted to be the first on the scene before the evidence eradication team got there.....later found out why.

Salty officers who have an inflated sense of self importance are a dime a dozen. Everyone is supposed to lower their eyes and bow their heads to them just because they pushed a radio car "back in the hot years."

Thanks for appointing yourself as the moderator of police response times and judge of police caution. I would be happy to lay a fat cite on anyone I ever saw pulling such nonsense.

I hope no one takes it on themselves to "force the police to be careful and slow down" if they are on their way to your house in an emergency.

Why are you even posting in this thread?

With all the bluster and nonsense having been addressed, I ask this:

Has no one posted the golden rule of C3 driving?

DON'T TRY TO PASS ON THE RIGHT!

Blasphemy. Joking doesn't occur on the internet, Mr. Retired.

Your attempt to mock whatever it is you think I do at work is a childish non sequitur and a weak attempt to evade the topic at hand.

I guess we are done here, son.
